Simba's Ultra Meatball

A recipe created with love for a very special boy.

This recipe has a special place in my heart because it was inspired by my Golden/Aussie

Mix, Simba, a rescue from the Green Lake County Shelter.

Simba loved anything with meat. If it smelled like meat, he was interested — so when I

started thinking about creating a meatball treat, I knew one kind of meat just wasn't going to

be enough. Of course, I had to put two meaty favorites together to make what I call the

Ultra Meatball.

I use chicken breast along with the other ingredients to help bind the ground meat together

with eggs and oats, creating a hearty little meatball made especially for dogs.

But the best part of this recipe wasn't the ingredients — it was watching Simba enjoy them.

He devoured them like there was no tomorrow.

Simba may no longer be here to wait by the oven for those treats to finish baking, but

every time I make these meatballs, I think of him. I can still picture him waiting patiently

nearby, knowing something delicious was coming out of that oven. This recipe is a little piece

of his memory that I get to share with other dogs and their families.
